Announcement European lists & new Board of Administrators
Last Saturday 16 March, the streets of Antwerp coloured purple as Volt Belgium held their General Assembly in the historical Hof van Liere. During this pivotal event Volt Belgium had the opportunity to officially elect the new Board of Administrators, the remaining candidates for the Dutch-speaking and Francophone European lists, the Germanophone European lead candidate and several amendments to our political programme.

Board of Administrators
The new board will consist of:
Co-President (non-female) - Carlo Giovanni Giudice
Co-President (non-male) - Vacant
Treasurer - Martin Sommer
Secretary - Jasper Coosemans
5th Board Member - Bram Vandeninden
With the election of the new Board of Administrators, we must say goodbye to our Co-President Johanna Dirlewanger-Lücke as well as to Kim Smouter, who was the only member and the chair of the Volt Values Board. We thank both of them from the bottom of our heart for the work and time they brought to the party.
European candidates
We also applaud the election of the candidates for the Dutch- and French-speaking lists for the European Parliament, as well as the election of André Florent Staes as lead candidate for the German-speaking European Parliament list. Together with Sophie in ‘t Veld, Suzana Carp, Bram Vandeninden and Arslan Jurion, they will be leading a fantastic team of candidates to the European Parliament elections in June! We are proud of the team and look forward to supporting them along the campaign trail. If you have not yet done so, sign for Volt for participation in the 2024 elections via Sign4Volt and make a donation to support us in our campaign!

Open position for non-male Co-President
However, among the many elections yesterday, one did not take place: the election of the non-male (female/diverse) Co-President. Moreover, Volt Belgium did not have a female/diverse candidate present themselves for the Board of Administrators.
Our #1 priority as an incomplete Board therefore is now to inform and encourage our female and diverse members to apply for the vacant non-male (female/diverse) co-president position, as well as other vacant positions.
Conclusion
Following the European, Belgian federal and regional elections in June, and the municipal elections in October, we foresee a full review of the statutes and internal rules, among which structural support for female/diverse members will be an integral part. We encourage all our members to actively participate in this process and to share ideas and best practices. We are looking forward to the input and are hopeful that together we can be the change we want to see in society!
