Finding a high-quality, stable home in Brussels is a process that, in terms of timing and commitment, resembles the political project of the European common home.
Exaggeration aside, the housing challenge in the Brussels-Capital Region brings together young and old, new and long-time residents, Europeans and non-Europeans, those with financial means and those in financial difficulty. It addresses various aspects of social and cultural integration, health and safety, but also the legitimate desires of every citizen to ensure good quality of life and to start a family.
The first event in Volt BE's series of Apérodebates is organized in collaboration with the Italians of Volt Europa abroad. It aims to present the challenges and best practices of municipalities that are part of the Brussels-Capital Region. It also aims to discuss with local councillors and civil society representatives what an inclusive, accessible, and modern housing policy is and should be.
The theme of the debate is based on findings gathered by the team of Italians from Volt Europa abroad through the Volt survey tool “EuroSense” during a series of meetings held in 2024-25. During these meetings, the issue of housing difficulties in the European capital emerged.
