“Making Tervuren's streets safer for cyclists and pedestrians is crucial, especially for children passing busy crossroads every day.”

Originally from Ukraine, Kseniya is passionate about community well-being and safety. She envisions a future where greenery is woven into the urban landscape, creating healthier environments. "Urban development is essential, but it must be balanced to preserve the unique charm and livability of Tervuren," she says.
Kseniya’s vision also focuses on road safety, particularly for children cycling to school. She wants everyone in Tervuren to be able to walk or cycle safely through the town. And she imagines a family park in Tervuren — a space where children can play safely, learn, and grow.
"This park would be more than just a place to visit; it would be a vital community hub that enriches lives and preserves the unique character of Tervuren for generations to come," she says. "The park should offer not only recreational facilities but also educational opportunities. Imagine a traffic park, bee house, compost site, or eco water center," she adds.
For nearly two decades, Kseniya has been dedicated to advancing education and development in vulnerable communities worldwide. "Working in the developing world has shown me how critical education is for empowering communities and fostering long-term stability." She currently works with a Belgian NGO that supports rural communities in Central Asia. By addressing poverty, she believes Europe can help build a network of stable, friendly nations, contributing to a safer and more competitive continent.
