Post-Brexit transition for British citizens in the EU

Rue Montoyer 1/32, Brussels - Maison des Ailes

The upcoming EU elections will be the first since Brexit. As such it represents the first EU elections in which British citizens will not be able to cast a vote for MEPs to represent them in the European Parliament. This, coupled with a lack of representation by political parties at a national level has contributed to recent findings from the University of Strathclyde that 90% of British citizens living in the EU feel politically under-represented.

In light of this, Volt Belgium is welcoming British citizens to discuss personal experiences of during the Brexit transition, and how a transnational European constituency could remedy some of the issues still faced by British ex-pats.

As someone who worked closely on citizens’ rights during the Brexit transition process, Suzana Carp, our lead candidate for European Elections, will introduce ex-pats to Volt’s program for ambitious treaty change to create a powerful transnational constituency, empowering citizens to hold the EU institutions to account.

Join us on 27 March at Maison des Ailes from 19h – 21h to take part in this fascinating discussion.
