“Dance and music put you in touch with yourself and your emotions,” says Paulo Delgadillo. “It’s a way of opening up, moving, and connecting with others that can make Tervuren more vital, vibrant, and relaxed.” Paulo believes that our town needs to support and include all local associations and cultural activities to bridge the growing cultural divide.
Paulo’s vision aligns with Volt Tervuren’s pan-European goals of fostering a greener and more equitable society. A firm believer in the power of local action to achieve global impact, he highlights how reducing plastic pollution locally can help protect wildlife in distant ecosystems like the oceans of South America. For Paulo, environmental responsibility begins at home in Tervuren and can ripple out to benefit the world.
Originally from Peru, and a Tervuren resident for 20 years, Paulo is a graduate in translation and part-time Spanish teacher. He is also a renowned instructor of Latin dances who has shared his passion for Salsa and other dances for over three decades. Paulo's experience includes training at prestigious dance schools and congresses. Currently, he passes on this expertise to his role as a Salsa and Fitness Dance instructor in European institutions. His classes not only provide physical exercise but also offer an important cultural connection, strengthening the community and enhancing well-being.
With additional experience in disciplines such as Hatha Yoga, Tai Chi, language teaching, and work in the European Parliament, Paulo is a dynamic leader in the Tervuren community. His dedication to local action and social progress is a powerful example of how grassroots efforts can lead to meaningful change.
